Hi i bought a 3 years smart2go license for about 2 months ago from smart2go and used it with my nokia e65, and now 2 months later when i bought a new N95 and use the same smart2go app ill get a license error transfer message and cannot use my smart2go license with nokia n95.. ill contacted smart2go and got this reply..
And Their Reply;
Dear Taimas,Thank you for your request and your interest in our product. We are sorry, but we do not allow transfers of licenses due to phone changes
as we cannot guarantee backwards compatibility. That means that we cannot guarantee that older navigation licenses are
compatible with newer software versions. Since on a new device there might be
a new client, this case may emerge and the old license might not be valid any
longer. To avoid cases like yours, we offer the navigation function also for one year,
so if you change your device every year, you do not pay for a time in which
you will not be able to use the navigation.

that’s a tragically poor policy to take.
This should have been brought up during the license purchase as I’m sure he wouldn’t have bought it knowing he’s bound to his old phone if he wants to use the software.
Lame…
Now, why didn’t Smart2go.com let potential users know about this policy in the first place?
I was lucky I only bought a 30 day license… although I didn’t get to use it. After paying for the license, they told me they don’t support navigation in my region.
Not something I would expect from a company owned by Nokia.
I hope Nokia (which owns them) is seriously looking into this. Otherwise, the bad reputation of smart2go might bring Nokia down with them.
This doesn’t make sense at all.
From developer’s point of view, I know that Nokia has promised compatibility across S60 3rd devices. And now they’re saying they cannot guarantee compatibility.
Please take “compatibility” seriously….
Sorry people but you should have read the agreements. It is clearly stated that license can’t be transfered and that you have to check if your region is supported.
