Fring is a mobile VoIP application enables you to make voice calls, exchange instant messages and get real-time presence information about friends, wherever you are;
The main screen is the contact list that presents you with your contacts and their presence status. The contact list is comprised of your fringsters™ friends, your Skype, MSN Messenger and Google Talk contacts, and, if you choose, those stored in your handset’s regular contact list.
Through one interface, as shown in the “be online” image above, you can browse contacts, check presence statuses, move between all open sessions (by using your tab keys) and initiate voice or chat communication sessions.
It’s based on a unique thin-client technology that for the first time enables true VoIP over 3G, GPRS and Wi-Fi networks. fring™ dynamically adapts itself to the optimal network and handset characteristics while enabling seamless roaming VoIP on multiple networks. The dedicated three-sided P2P network architecture has been developed to support near telco-grade voice quality and network efficiency;
Fring leverages the Internet connectivity traditionally used for mobile email retrieval and web browsing to provide mobile-VoIP communications so users can talk and instant message for free!
It’s a free application but there is no direct link.. You have to select your phone and Begin to Download

Having problems getting it to run on my e61
it runs ok on my e61. i’ve been using skype normally and with good quality. Realize that the e61 version is still a preview.
On my e61, the sms link downloaded fring9.sis (version 2.71(0)) this morning . During installation it indicated that “Application not compatible with Phone. Continue anyway?” If I continue, it appears to install, prompts me for a username and password, and then it just hangs…. What version did you install?
i’ve installed it from sms too.
@tphank - Hey, you’re not alone there - mine did exactly the same. I’m relieved to hear that I’m not alone, but mighty frustrated that it doesn’t work!
My E61 is running like a dog since I tried fring and even removing it from the device only improved matters slightly.
yup. I downloaded the E61 version of the app for my Nokia E61. sms arrived. clicked on link. installed. create user name and pass. hang. quit and run again. hang.
anyone know what’s up with it? and if you got it running, what version did you download and maybe share the simple steps you took to do it?
Awesome, I didn’t get correct link from Fring.. When I was trying to open that web page given by SMS, got a error message like access forbidden..
What the hell ? Is that only because I am in China or sth… gross.
Hello,
I installed it and have no problems running it. Text exchange with another Skype user is successful but I CANNOT make any VOIP calls to another Skype user. The error being “CALL TERMINATED”! Anyone knows why?
Regards
anyone using it with no problems?

Hi Guys,
My name is Roy, and I am on the fring team.
We noticed that some of you are having issues with the fring preview version for E61. I am truly sorry for this! As kind of a first step, I suggest trying to download and install the new fring version for Symbian 9 version 2.73. If issues do persist, please touch-base with Omri from our support and we will do our best to address each issue as soon as we can.
Also any input, feedback, insight about the fring and it’s features will be highly appreciated, and hopefully help us improve the fring products
Thanks again,
Roy (roy@fring.com)
Hi!
I have had same problems as meantioned above. The Fring application has not been working and has totally messed up my phone.
After downloading 2.74 it started to work and seams like a nice application. When I am used to run SIP on my E61 the voice quality is not the best in the world but you can still manage to hear what the other one is saying.
If you are not to afraid of messing up your phone it is absolute worth a try.
Fantastic. This is a must have! Works great with Skype. In fact, this is as good as Skype mobile. Just great!
Fring 2.74(0) does’t work in my e61 (firmware 3.0633.09.04).It’s showing Corruted version message, I tried remove and reinstall feel times but with sucess.
Can this be installed & run in N93i?
I installed it successfully, but the problem is that, everytime I login it begins downloading all the lines from my chat windows which I had on my PC (it consumes so much time)
Works with N93.
Hi!
I installed it on my Nokia E60 and is working great!
I got it for E61. So far no problems using MSN, Skype, and GTalk.
Skype calls could be a little louder though.
The only issue I had was getting the link to my US cell number. After trying a few times over a period of week, I finally put my Finnish SIM card in and got the text message link to that number.
I’m not sure if it’s possible to remove people from the contact list.
I also don’t know if it’s possible to turn off message sounds.
Call terminated is the only mesasage I get.
The fring test call works - all other connections don’t.
My mobile phone is a Nokia E65.
Any suggestions?
We did some testing for right mobile solution to use Skype for our needs and decided to use Mobivox - and as a separate solution to use Jajah.
You can read about the whole process in my blog at: http://4startups.blogspot.com/2007/09/saving-money-with-voip-various.html
I tried to download fring from website using mymobile. While downloading it hanged @ 61%. When I canceled the download my mobile re-started and since them its working wierd. Its slow, the signal is bad etc.
